U.S. December Housing Starts fell 15.5% to 550,000 compared with the consensus a fall of 4.0%, building permits fell 10.7% to the rate of 549,000 in December, revised November Housing Starts fell 15.1% decline from a 18.9%.
Jobless claims:
U.S. jobless claims for the week of January 17 rose to 589K 62K compared with the study of an increase of 26K, U.S. Continuing Claims for week of January 10 97K rose to 4.607 million, U.S. jobless claims Revised for the week of January 10, 527K to 524K; U.S. match jobless claims highest since November 1982.
