The dollar rose in the session as secretary Treasury Henry Paulson predicted that lawmakers pass a bill this week to shore up confidence in Fannie Mae (NYSE: FNM) and Freddie Mac (FRE). In addition, the president of Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia Charles Plosser said the Fed must raise interest rates "sooner rather than later" to lower inflation. (Read more)
